My Chili Soup

When cold weather hits I get hungry for homemade Chili Soup! I only buy Chili if it’s from Wendy’s, but I prefer my own. It’s easy to make and makes the whole house smell delicious. The ‘secret’ ingredient in mine is the small amount of ground cloves. It just gives it the ‘lift’ that Chili needs. Pair the chili with some cornbread and you have a meal fit for a king!


1 pound ground beef

1/2 lb. Italian Sausage

2 Tbsp dry minced onion, or 1/2 cup chopped fresh onion

1 Tbsp minced garlic

1/4 tsp ground cloves

1/2 tsp Crushed Red Pepper

1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

1 tsp Chili Powder

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

2 cans Kidney Beans, drained & rinsed

5 cups (40 oz) crushed canned tomatoes

3 cups (24 oz) tomato juice

2 Tbsp tomato paste

3 small packages Splenda(or 1/4 cup sugar)

1. Brown hamburger & sausage.

2. Add all other ingredients and cook for at least 1 hour.
